1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using MediaOptim ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

MediaOptim is a desktop application that compresses and optimizes media files (videos, images, audio) locally on your device. The App:

  • Processes files entirely on your local machine
  • Does not upload your files to any server
  • Uses open-source compression technologies

3. License

Free Tier

The free version grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to the usage limits (10 files per month).

Pro License

A Pro license grants you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on one (1) personal device without usage limits.

Business License

A Business license grants you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on up to three (3) devices, including for commercial purposes.

4. Restrictions

You agree NOT to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Modify, adapt, or create derivative works of the App
  • Distribute, sell, lease, or sublicense the App
  • Remove any proprietary notices from the App
  • Use the App for any illegal purpose
  • Share your license key with others

5. Intellectual Property

MediaOptim and all related intellectual property rights are owned by us. The App uses open-source components (FFmpeg, Sharp, etc.) which are subject to their respective licenses.

6. Your Content

You retain all rights to your files. We do not claim any ownership over the files you process with MediaOptim. Since all processing happens locally, we never have access to your content.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

  • The App will meet your requirements
  • The App will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
  • The results from using the App will be accurate
  • Any defects will be corrected

Important: Always keep backups of your original files before compression. While MediaOptim is designed to be safe, we recommend maintaining copies of important files.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.

9. Refund Policy

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee for Pro and Business licenses. If you are not satisfied with MediaOptim for any reason, contact us within 30 days of purchase for a full refund.

10. Updates

Pro and Business licenses include lifetime updates. We may release updates to improve functionality, fix bugs, or address security issues. Updates are optional but recommended.

11. Termination

We may terminate your license if you violate these terms. Upon termination, you must stop using the App and delete all copies.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
